Celebrate Weatherization Day

October 30th has been designated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as "Weatherization Day” so help by celebrating your energy accomplishments and reap the benefits for years to come by weatherizing your home.

October is designated as National Energy Awareness Month. Each year, the DOE uses the onset of winter to promote energy conservation, renewable energy, and new technology use in the energy industry. Weatherization Day provides states, local municipalities, Community Action Agencies, landlords, and home owners a chance to showcase their energy conscience projects and initiatives so watch and listen for public events in your area.

According to the DOE, the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) returns $1.39 in energy-related benefits for every $1 invested in the Program. Far too often with successful programs like the WAP, a great deal of activity goes on behind the scenes, out of the public eye. The figures don’t lie, Weatherization Works! We need community based Wx initiatives to ignite more visibility to their success empowering jobless people and teaching them a valuable skill-set that will enable them to support their families through fulfilling careers; Weatherization has been instrumental in providing jobs in a tough recession while helping low income families become more energy efficient, save money and improve living conditions. So get involved and learn more about how your community is leveraging Weatherization to improve the American economy.

IDL solutions has been in support of the WAP by helping Community Action Agencies operate more efficiently, doing more with less to exceed federal Wx quality standards and provide increased transparency. IDL offers the Weatherization Administration & Reporting Manager (WARM) software as a complete Wx management solution.
